Isotopic pulse-length scaling of molecular dissociation in an intense laser field

Abstract: Using a simple two-channel model, we show that the nuclear kinetic energy spectra for dissociation of H2+ and D2+ induced by an intense, femtosecond laser pulse can be made to match nearly quantitatively. This is accomplished with laser pulses of length for H2+ and for D2+ that are otherwise identical. The resemblance is best for short pulses and improves for long pulses when the averages necessary for comparison with experiment are included.
